Another from the "Action Hero" Shoot

As I promised earlier in the week, here's another from the "action hero" shoot.

Thanks again to Sarah and Clay for all their hard work this past weekend. It's been a lot of fun working on these shots, and I look forward to future projects. It's worth mentioning that Clay is the bassist for the band, Rude Buddha, make sure you check them out sometime when you get a chance.

Upcoming D90 Review

After mentioning that I've become quite attached to my D90 (in my Workflow Fridays post over at the P&P Blogroll) - I've gotten some requests to do a short write-up on the D90. I'm planning on working on putting that together this weekend, and I wanted to inquire with my readers about specific questions you might like answered, or other items you might like to see addressed. I won't promise to answer all of them, but I will certainly tailor the article to your feedback as much as possible. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Action Hero - Lighting Setup

Thanks for all of the response over the shoot from this past weekend. I've gotten a ton of emails requesting the lighting setup for the action hero shot of Sarah, - so here you go.

20090221-Lighting

All three lights are AB800's. There's a 40-degree grid on the hairlight, and a 10-degree grid on the right strobe. The softbox is 32" x 40".

The shot was taken with a Nikon D3 using a Nikon 24-70mmlens at 62mm. Camera settings: 1/200 sec. at f/13, ISO 200.

By the way, Kevin Kertz makes the above template available for photoshop for creating diagrams of your lighting setups. Make sure you check out his site, and download the free template. Thanks Kevin!

Action Hero Photoshoot

As I mentioned last week, this past Saturday our good friend Sarah came over for an "Action Hero Photoshoot" - I plan on posting more photos (including some with her husband Clay) along with lighting setups, etc. later in the week, but I wanted to share the first one that I finished. Thanks to Sarah and Clay for letting us work on developing lighting and post-processing techniques to achieve this kind of look, Rose and I had a blast.
