Hi gang.Welcome to a special snow
day edition of the blog.My goal for
today is to share with you a few odds and ends and then try to stay warm...
The DC area got about 10-20 inches of additional snow since I took these photos. They're calling it the DC Snowpocalypse... and it truly is crazy around here. The federal government has been shut down all week. That's the most consecutive days of closure in U.S. history.
As an interesting side note, today's blog entry was written entirely using
the dictation capabilities of Windows 7.I'm extremely impressed at how accurate it takes dictation and I'm
looking forward to being able to sit here and talk my way through these blog
entries in the future. One final thing
to mention I didn't have to buy any special software and I'm currently using
the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 headset in microphone combo – which was under thirty bucks.Pretty cool if you asked
me.

This weekend consisted of snow, shoveling snow, playing in the snow, shoveling snow, watching the snow fall, shoveling snow, playing in the snow, waiting to go back out and play in the snow, a major snowball fight, and of course, shoveling snow.
Just a few snapshots, nothing fancy, of the snow that has essentially shutdown the Washington, DC area. The federal government is shut down, all the major school systems are shut down, and the best part is - we're supposed to get another 6-12 inches tomorrow!!
Come join us on February 21, 2010 from 11:00 - 3:00 at the Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville, VA. Enjoy an intimate afternoon with Towner Jones Photography and other area wedding professionals. We look forward to finding out how we can serve you.
The TJM Media Group is pleased to announce the release of the first episode of "Start to Finish" - a series where you, the reader, will help select each month's photography and graphic design assignment and then watch as your projects are completed, from start to finish. The key to this being a fun, interesting, and informative feature is your interaction. In this first episode, we had to come up with a basic concept on our own.
In this episode, we go on assignment to the grounds of the University of Virginia and photograph Thomas Jefferson's historic academic village. Photographs are captured to demonstrate basic pano-stitching techniques back in the studio. It was a simple task to get the series up and running.
We have every confidence that you can do much better!
Here's how we'd like it to work:
Each month we need two basic assignments - a photographic concept and a final presentation.
For example, a suggestion for a photographic concept might be: Demonstrate the process for capturing the photos needed to render an HDR image of the Lincoln Memorial. The resulting final presentation concept might be: Render the HDR image and present as a fine art print.
(OK, that one seems pretty neat. We might use it... )
