Maternity Photography - Melanie - Northern Virginia

To be honest, I've been really excited about showing these, but I wanted to get the complete set of shots from this session done and presented to the mom before showing them to the world. However, I sent my email to Melanie this morning, so I'm pleased to present a couple favorites from her maternity session.

Melanie is an artist, and an absolute trooper, and stuck right with me - hiking through mud, plodding through ice-water, and swatting mosquitoes without a single complaint all in search of the vision I had in mind. For the photographers in the crowd, there are two SB-900s on a light stand in the middle of the creek, just to the left of the subject, and my D3 with 24-70mm on a tripod in the middle of the creek. The water was swift moving and cold and it was pretty intense leaving all that gear in the middle of the river while posing Mel... but I'm pleased with the result.

Perfect Layers: Combining Images into a Collage

My buddy Patrick over at onOne Software has sent me a pre-release version of their newest tool, Perfect Layers, so that I could do a quick demo for you. What I've decided to show you is how quickly, and easily I can combine three seperate images into a collage. Keep in mind this is a pre-release demo, but this will give you a quick idea of how much power this will add to your Lightroom workflow. For what it's worth, I haven't had a whole lot of time to play around with this software yet, but 1) it's really easy to come up to speed on, 2) it brings along a large subset of photoshop's layers functionality, and 3) it loads from lightroom pretty darn fast. All in all, it's pretty slick.

Make sure you maximize the video to full screen so you can see what's going on.

Go grab your own copy of the preview version at onOne's website and give it a try for yourself.

P.S. If you want to help support this blog, click on the banner below on your way to purchase your own copy when you decide it's worth buying.

Wedding - Natalie and Proben - Northern Virginia

On Saturday, May 28th, Rose and I had the pleasure of photographing Natalie and Proben at their absolutely beautiful ceremony and reception at Indigo Landing on the Potomac waterfront across the river from the Washington DC skyline. These two had an absolute blast from getting ready until they finally left the party at the end of the night. Thank you both for the opportunity to share in your big day!

Remember Me...

Remember me? My name is Rob Jones and I'm the guy who used to update this blog more than once a month. In all seriousness, thank you to my loyal readers who continue to keep up with me - I'm actually in the process of writing some new blog entries this weekend. More to come...
