Sometimes, you don't have time to set up the ideal conditions for a shot...
Case in point - last week I was scheduled to shoot a headshot to be included with the portraits Allison (our amazing hairstylist and MUA) submitted for her contest. Unfortunately, we had waited until the last minute, and the night we scheduled the shoot was the night Rose was admitted to the hospital.
The solution? We had about 2 minutes to get the shot before I needed to rush out the door to get to the hospital. (Rose always the professional, insisted that I fulfill our business commitments before coming to the hospital)
I sent up one of my portable backdrops - stuck an SB800 on the D3, setup a second SB800 on 'Remote' using Nikon's CLS, and held it high in my left hand.
We fired about six frames, and got this result, which we were both pleased with. For a pinch, I'm pretty pleased with the result.
Nikon D3, 24-70mm (at 36mm) - f/2.8 for 1/60s, ISO 100
On a personal note, Allison was an absolute Godsend and watched my girls for me while I ran to the hospital to take care of Rose. Thanks again for being so flexible, understanding, and helpful. We can't tell you how much we appreciated it in our time of need.
