Rose Returns, Photo from Downtown

Hello all. Rose headed down to Atlanta for a long weekend to visit her buddy Susan from college. After having her gone for four days and the kids in my care (my folks did come to help over the weekend), I have found a new, indescribable respect for what the lady does for our family, day in and day out. Wow. Four kids ages four and under is no small task and to do it with such grace (all while maintaining her sanity) is amazing.

Welcome home, angel.

With that said, thanks to my folks for helping me stay on top of the photography responsibilities Saturday and Sunday. We did two engagement shoots on Saturday (I'll put up some sneak peaks soon), and recorded a portion of the photography segment for Start to Finish, episode 2 down in DC on Sunday.

Here's a shot of "The Three Soldiers" that I snapped while downtown shooting S2F.

Snow Day Randomness

Hi gang.  Welcome to a special snow day edition of the blog.  My goal for today is to share with you a few odds and ends and then try to stay warm...

The DC area got about 10-20 inches of additional snow since I took these photos. They're calling it the DC Snowpocalypse... and it truly is crazy around here. The federal government has been shut down all week. That's the most consecutive days of closure in U.S. history.

As an interesting side note, today's blog entry was written entirely using the dictation capabilities of Windows 7.  I'm extremely impressed at how accurate it takes dictation and I'm looking forward to being able to sit here and talk my way through these blog entries in the future.  One final thing to mention I didn't have to buy any special software and I'm currently using the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 headset in microphone combo – which was under thirty bucks.  Pretty cool if you asked me.

TJM Media Group Presents - Start to Finish, Episode 1

The TJM Media Group is pleased to announce the release of the first episode of "Start to Finish" - a series where you, the reader, will help select each month's photography and graphic design assignment and then watch as your projects are completed, from start to finish. The key to this being a fun, interesting, and informative feature is your interaction. In this first episode, we had to come up with a basic concept on our own.

In this episode, we go on assignment to the grounds of the University of Virginia and photograph Thomas Jefferson's historic academic village. Photographs are captured to demonstrate basic pano-stitching techniques back in the studio. It was a simple task to get the series up and running.

We have every confidence that you can do much better!

Here's how we'd like it to work:

Each month we need two basic assignments - a photographic concept and a final presentation.

For example, a suggestion for a photographic concept might be: Demonstrate the process for capturing the photos needed to render an HDR image of the Lincoln Memorial. The resulting final presentation concept might be: Render the HDR image and present as a fine art print.

(OK, that one seems pretty neat. We might use it... )

Email your suggestions to: start2finish@tjmmediagroup.com

We look forward to working on YOUR assignments.

All the best,
